scratch that...

Since it's snowing outside and freezing cold-
let's forget about the weekend necessities and share a few of my favorite things!
Winter has finally started- babies are sleeping, big band is being played throughout the house and I am about to sit down with some amazing pomegranate tea.
(a little fyi- I finished the plate of brownies at 5:37p.m. last night- I ended up making them gluten and dairy free so I assumed they just could not possibly be good the next day :))

"These are a few of my favorite things!"
I am so not a fan of Oprah, quite frankly cause everything she does is perfect, but I just realized this sounds like that dang show she had.  Ironically enough, I love Martha Stewart.  I use to stalk her apartment by Chelsea pier in nyc- we lived real close.
ok- off subject. Let me get bak-  This is from Sound of Music.
I know there are some fans out there, Brooke?

Things that make me happy!!!

gimme a beach cruiser anytime and I'll make an afternoon of it!
BTW- for those of you who in live in STL, Webster Groves is REALLY hilly.
hmmm... maybe that's why they call them beach cruisers and not hill climbers...

a real nice latte.

whew- I eat it every day.  I love chocolate- but it has to be dark.  Like, 70% or more.
Although if you give me those pretzel m&m's, I'm not sure what's in them- but I have to remember to start buying the small bags- I'll eat the entire bag before I get home.

Walks.
Anytime.
Anywhere.

yep.  still on that sequin quick.
So festive and comfy- really, they are!

paella.
It has to be made just right though- there are a lot of poorly made paella's out there.
When you find a good one, hold on to it!

trees, glorious trees!

scone me!
I love scones- not the ones from starbucks- that's basically a muffin in a triangle shape.  I mean, a real, barely sweet scone.  It's like a biscuit with fruit and a touch of sugar.

mountains- build me a house right here please.
(I only hope there is a target around the corner!!)

falling snow.
yep- I think we are aware of my obsession with snow and the movie White Christmas.

enjoy your weekend-

exactly.  it's funny how we all grow up, huh?

steal, deal, oh my!

let it snow!

YAY!  We finally have some winter weather around these parts!  About time!  It's time to get cozy...

Linden, houston and I ventured out into the yard this morning- it was pretty much her first time in the snow- she kept making me "clean" off her boots.  Needless to say, she loved the snow- I guess we're just made for the mountains!

So this was yesterday- notice the light jacket?  it was 53.

And this is today:
"glove me!"

"hmmm... how do I walk in this?"

Houston just wanted to play- hardcore.

now she's getting it...

When we got inside, it really started coming down- the good, big snowflakes.

ahhhh.  I love.

Snowday necessities:
{Linden seriously had the BEST time.  I got out cookie cutters and fondant cutters...best indoor activity}.

{trader joe's minestrone soup- I'm not a big fan of store bought soups- I usually make my own, but my oh my, this one is a winner!}

{extreme brownie bars- I've already eaten half, at least I have the afternoon to polish off the rest!}

Enjoy your weather, "weather" it be snow, ice, or sunshine!!
Just a couple things to put a smile on your face- I happen to think they are quite hilarious.

clever little suckers...

Why didn't I think of that?
...is exactly what you are going to be asking yourself when you see some of the things I have in store for today... for reals, not even joking.

stickers that peel away or will actually wash away in the sink.
I would just label everything for the heck of it.
Could you imagine?
Like my car for instance- ha!  That would be funny.

put this over the seat belt strap for a long ride to gramma's or where ever you may go!
soo comfy.

Really?  I mean really?  Why did it take this long to come up with this feature?
Do you know how many walks I have been on- all the while forgetting my gloves, pulling my sleeves down just to cover the tops of my hands?  a lot, that's right, a lot.
Einstein who?  This is genius my friends.
(again- why did I have such a hard time coming up with this one?)

So cute- take mini mason jars and turn them into sippy cups!!  Love this idea- although you will need some time to pry a hole in the top, but you can use them over and over again.
Great for a babyshower with kids, as I would imagine, these are not so shatterproof, I would not advise for a children's party.

How great would this be at a bbq, getting your child's plate ready?
corn on the cob, no problem.  BOOM.  corn off the cob.

This one is for the germaphobe in all of us.  Not sure that I would need this laying around on my counters BUT if I did need something to ward off germs, this would be it.
This sanitizes cutting boards using UV light, killing up to 99% of germs.
I wish they had one for cleaning bottles.

words to live by

love them all- but not that I watch that much tv, but it's such a nice bonding time with the husband- ya know?  So...that actually makes me happy.

monday morning...daaah, daaah, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah...

nope- you're not crazy- it is Tuesday and yes...I was having technical difficulties yesterday.
You know- in our old house we use to get at&t and now we can only get Charter here- blah.  At&t totally rocks.  Their employees are incredibly friendly and it even seems like they care.  Charter- blah.

Needless to say: here was my post for Monday...

So yes, I have finally graduated to the new iphone 4.  I have been carrying my old one around (loud and proud) but it was clearly time to take the next step in life.  This new one is so pretty I must find a new case.  hmmmm... which one to pick?

adorable, right?  you could even use it as a clutch- looks like it might have some room for id, card, and lipgloss.

So many of these to choose from- do it yourself or buy it.

yep- for the trendsetter.  Not only is the pattern amazing but I LOVE the neutral colors.  You know how some people say, when it doubt wear black?  Not me- I say wear a blend of neutrals.

How cute!!  This was definitely a top contender for my new case...Hmmm, did I pick it?  I'll tell you at the end :)

I mustache you a question?
To choose or nor to choose?  That is the question.

yep.  right on with my glitter obsession, one would have thought it would have ended with the holidays- nope.  My love has only grown stronger.

throw back.
yes and yes.
Who wouldn't want their very own cassette case?
It will go perfectly with my cassette dress.  yep- that thing is just as cute.

wait... did I just mention throwback?  I think this one tops the cake.  ahhhh, a lot of memories for this one!

press play for a good time.

This one totally reminds of a little shop on prince st in soho.  I wish I were there now.

Yes- I love books.  This would be a great kindle case too.

heehee.

Ready to see which one I choose?!?
drum roll, please...

ta dah.
wooden camera.
I totally love it.

Now that we are finished shopping for the day here is a little DIY inspiration.

1) start with any old thing- mine happened to be a hat with a whole lotta buttons.

2) Get a regular t-shirt.  (This is a $10 kids shirt from h&m)  The shirt was just plain.  I took the lace fabric off the hat and used fabric glue to attach to shirt.

3) closer look of the glued fabric.  I happen to just have a fabric pen at home and it was the easiest thing to use!

4) I sewed on each button individually using different color thread for each type of button.

5) close up of finished product.  Took me about 20 minutes.

Here's a pic of my little lady in the shirt.
(This picture is taken by my very talented sister- Amy Cowles.  Check out her work- http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Cowles-Imaging/133754833365008, )
