how to "dress" for every party.

"it's that time of year, when the world falls in love, E'vry song you hear, seems to say, Merry Christmas..."

yes, that time is here.  season of parties.
what to where, when to where, who to wear?
I am here to help.

There is a party for every occasion and a theme for every party (although obviously it's all surrounding Christmas, but come on- every loves a theme!!).  Here are the BEST looks for this season.

what a week...

whew- sick baby + sick husband = no fun.  So yes, as you can tell my poor little girl was sick which meant also for her, no sleeping (who am I kidding, me too!!) and crying all the day long.  We are finally over the hump and I have managed to get away for a couple minutes.  (get away is actually her playing right next me :))

So, as they say better late than never, right?

5 weekend necessities

Jbrand royal blue jeans- $179 nordstrom.  Perfect for those SLU (saint louis university) basketball games!!
victoria's secret thermal pj's.  $49   Definitely be needing a pair for the holidays- cozy up this weekend with the fam!

L'oreal Paris Colour Riche lipcolour in golden splendor  $8.95- the perfect nude with a slight shimmer- yep- holiday party Saturday night!

glass taxi ornament- $49- bloomingdales.  My trees are adorned with these old school glass ornaments.  (since I have moved to STL, you can get them at homegoods for a much cheaper price.)  They still remind me of my new york days :)

TOMS slippers.  "beaumont skull slip on"  $100- neiman marcus.  simply adorable.  Only TOMS could pull this off- now a holiday slipper with a velvet inside.  If it's cozy, warm, AND stylish; my name is all over it!

Have a great weekend- hope you all stay super duper healthy!!

points to ponder

"When I was 5, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.  When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I wrote down "happy".
They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them they didn't understand life."

well played.

do it like a cake and layer.

. We have officially begun the holiday season which for us in the north, means that we will have a bit of awesome weather.  Yep- I love seasons for all different reasons but like Bing Crosby says, "Snow, I want to wash my hands, my face, and hair with snow."  A little too much too soon, you say?  Not for me- bring on the hot chocolate, the fires, and getting cozy with my little girl in her oh so cute pj's!

I suppose before we get all cozy on the couch, we'll need some essential items and of course, to get those items one also needs an array of winter goods.  It's all about the layering of scarfs, hats, gloves, and coats!

The Perfect Layer

Layer one- scarves

too cute!!  They pretty much come in every animal

so comfy

Layer two- gloves

stripes- I love them on everything.

just when you thought they couldn't get any cuter...

and they keep getting better and better.

Layer three- coats

yep- I want that.

I couldn't help myself.  The cutest.

I'm gonna find it and wear it, every day.

so lady luck and yet so stylish- some things never fade.

layer this with all the goods and you'll be great indoors and out!!

- and the icing on the cake- hats

perfect for ice skating!!

I see me, a muff, and carolers.

so cute for a Christmas party with a white suit

new years hat?  but of course!!

(photo via urbanoutfitters)

I'm totally going to wear this shopping- get up and go but yet still so stylish.

(photo via urbanoutfitters.com)

Love these for when you want your hair down but yet there is still a nip in the air.

Embrace the weather and layer!  You simply can't go wrong- and if all else fails, wear your most comfortable clothes and add your cutest coat.  (Here's the kicker- you can't take off your coat!!)

day of thanks...

Thanksgiving is here- what are you thankful for?

I, myself am thankful for an outrageous number of things but most of all this year I am thankful for God following through- it may be in his own way or time, but he always does.

I have had quite the busy weekend and I apologize for not getting more out sooner but trust me- I cannot contain myself with Christmas, so you all will get a screen load of stuff coming at ya!

Are you having Turkey day at your house or are you going to friend's, family?  Whatever the case, one should never show up empty handed- here are some ways to keep your hands full...

Nothing to "wine" about here!

of course!!  Pick a festive dishtowel and ribbon- you'll be out the door in a flash!

(photo via goingtomakeitmine.tumblr.com)

such a great idea for an old sweater- or if you washed one and accidentally shrunk it... been there, done that.

(photo via greylikeswedding.com)

Take some leaves out of your centerpiece and voila!!

(photo via bhg.com)

socks, socks, socks.  A gift for her and him.  Her being the wine, he can have the socks!!

(photo via formalfringe.com)

you won't even need a handle for this one- it comes with it's own!!

(photo via ilovenesting.com)

made out of felt- cut with edged scissors, fabric glue and you're done!  You could even do a couple ahead of time and then grab and go!

(photo via bystephanielynn.com)

for the greenie in your life- this would be much appreciated by me, my husband could care less.  (he's learning, I keep telling myself:  baby steps, baby steps.)

(photo via pinterest.com)

I love the little frames with either a simple message or of course the family dog!!  Who could resist that adorable face?!?

(photo via napastyle.com)

so cute for the holidays.  Go to hobby lobby and check out the doll clothing- they always have great finds!

(photo via olderandwisor.blogspot.com)

I couldn't resist- pretty much everyone has these- I know for sure hobby lobby.
